FIBROCELL THERAPY

With biological aging, intercellular matrix, hyaluronic acid, subcutaneous adipose tissue, collagen and elastin fibers decrease.

 

This age-dependent process can be accelerated by sun exposure, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, genetic and environmental factors.

FİBROBLAST

Fibroblast should be defined before explaining the concept of Fibroblast treatment (also known as Fibrocell, Youth Vaccine or Cell Therapy). Fibroblasts are the most important cells building extracellular matrix (ECM) , which provides a scaffold for cells. In addition by synthesizing collagen, elastin and reticular fibers, fibroblasts play a critical role in dermal healing and regeneration. They are activated by stimuli such as tissue damage and growth. Less active form of the same cell is called fibrocyte.

 

Fibroblasts derived from a small tissue sample are cultured to proliferate into millions in the laboratory, and then injected to the required areas. This procedure is AUTOLOGOUS FIBROBLAST THERAPY (FIBROCELL).

With Fibrocell:

  • Replaces the fibroblasts that are reduced in number with aging,

  • These fibroblasts synthesize hyaluronic acid, glycosaminoglycans and elastin,

  • The amount and quality of collagen clusters increases in the long term,

  • Beyond a permanent filler effect, skin rejuvenation is provided with the mechanisms described above.

After signing the necessary consent forms, 1or 2 very small sized (2 mm in diameter) skin biopsies are taken from the back of the ear with local anesthesia. This tissue in a protective solution is delivered to the laboratory as fast as possible in order to preserve cell viability for an optimal result. An antibiotic ointment is applied  and the patient is sent home.

The   tissue process in the laboratory takes about 3-6 weeks. Once the sufficient number of cells is reached, the patient will be informed 1 or 2 days before the application and called to the office.  Local anesthesia can be achieved by cold application, topical anesthetic creams or local nerve block.

Three applications with 3-4 week intervals are made.

Fibrocell is not intended for large volumetric correction of severe deformities. Immediate result are not possible also. Collagen producing cells are introduced to provide results within weeks to months. A remarkable fresh look will also develop during this period. will be warned about these unrealistic expectations.

Nasolabial, periorbital, forehead, periorbital wrinkles and depressed acne scars are the main target areas.

Restoration of skin quality and tone will also evolve, resulting in  a shiny and fresh look. 

Side effects are limited to short-term redness, swelling and bruising.
