Gynecomastia

Breast tissue which is the center of beauty, self-confidence and attention in women, does not find the same meaning in man.

Gynecomastia indicates feminine breast growth in men. This situation, which does not coincide with masculine characteristics is simply troublesome.

Studies performed on adults and adolescents, with gynecomastia, have reported significant negative impact on psychosocial aspects, such as well-being, social functioning, mental health and self-esteem (Nuzzi 2013, Davaço 2009).

In a recent study, gynecomastia has been shown to be a source of tension, shame, and even depression in men (Kipling, 2014).

In another study, it was defined as a psychological threat to the determination of self-confidence and sexual identity in the adolescent age group (Larson, 2012).
