After Surgery
Circumference of the legs will be measured and their harmony with the thighs and the rest of the body will be examined.
Silicone implants placed to the inner side of the calves are generally used to obtain required volume augmentation.
Implants used to overcome the leg deformity have similar features to those used in the breast. Highly cross-linked silicone gel in a silicone elastomeric shell is placed for lifetme use.
Fat grafts or fat transfer may be a solution in patients with mild to moderate deformity. Large volume fat grafting combined with stem cells should considered in the presence of severe deformity . Required fat will be harvested from other parts of the body by liposuction . More than one sessions may be required.
In some cases, legs may seem to be thin because of the excessive fat tissue in the knee, thigh and belly regions. Liposuction to the these areas should be evaluated in these cases.
Previous orthopedic surgeries in patients with polio-related deformity can impair the outcome . Tissue expanders should be utilized before implant placement or fat grafting.
