Before Tummy Tuck

General health status, smoking, vascular and varicose problems, familial diseases, previous surgeries or thromboembolism history will be carefully questioned. Detailed blood tests, chest X-ray, ECG and superficial abdominal ultrasonography are necessary tests before surgery.

In the light of the physical examination and ultrasonography, possible muscle (diastasis recti) and hernia repairs are discussed with the patient. Position and length of the incisions to be made, the nature of the scar are also discussed in the preoperative period.

Depending on the degree of deformity, 3 types of abdominoplasty surgery can be perfomed: Mini, Full or Belt Abdominoplasty. These surgical techniques are described in the next section.
