After Fat Grafting

Swelling and bruises may occur after the procedure. Swellings often subsides at the end of the first week but bruises typically take 2 weeks to disappear. Prolonged or delayed healing may occur in patients with thick skin. Return to daily routine is within 7-10 days.

The use of ice compresses for the first 3 days after surgery is useful to prevent swelling and bruising. This also improves the viability of fat cells.

Mild stiffness will disappear within 1-2 months.

Success of the transfer will be evaluated at the end of the 3rd month. In cases with excess volume loss or further volume is desired, additional grafting sessions may be needed.
