Before Fat Grafting

Smoking, systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, drug or food supplement use will be questioned. Smoking should be stopped at least 4 weeks before the intervention. Treatment of systemic diseases (diabetes, anemia, COPD,...) should be regulated preoperatively.

The vital problem about fat grafting is the viability of the transferred cells. Some of the cells transferred cannot be able to survive ath the recipient site, and then resorbed and excreted with liver and kidneys. The remaining cells act as permanent fillers in this region. Patient age, smoking, immune system disorders, systemic diseases, genetic structure, steroids and similar drugs directly affect fat cells viability. Volume loss may be excessive in higly mobile regions (lips) also.

The third month reveals percentage fat cells that will remain viable. Based on this observation, another grafting session may be planned.
