New horizons have opened in body contouring with the light of new technologies. High-Definition Liposuction (4D Liposuction) is a new fat liposculture -fat shaping technique. This concept has been put forward for a healthy  and attractive look than just getting slimmer. Extracted adipose tissue are usually used as fat grafts to be add further definition.

Revealing the anatomical structures under the fat layer is one goal. The fatty tissue is thined and the underlying muscle and bone structures are revealed.  Then, the remaining adipose tissue is shaped delicately to create irregularities intentionally. With the created shadow and light games, the desired look is engraved. Beyond the scope of liposuction surgery, this is a different concept. The pioneering work on this subject was carried out by the Colombian Plastic Surgery specialist Alfredo Hoyos.

This surgery requires advanced experience in  liposuction techniques, anatomy knowledge and technical skills.

Since only subcutaneous fat is involved in the procedure, it is not a solution for the underlying abdominal muscle weakness or intra-abdominal (visceral) fat. Ideal cadidates are people with normal or slightly high body-mass index without any underlying muscle deformity. Target areas are abdomen, back, arms, hips and legs.

In classical liposuction, aim is to fat. In high definition liposuction additional effort is focused on shaping fine details. For example , by strategically removing belly fat (instead of suctioning them homogenously) , it is possible to obtain a six-pack appearance in the abdominal region, or to obtain a muscular chest appearance in men with excess breasts .

Suctioned fat is transferred to arm, shoulder or other muscles that are desired to be emphasized. In this way, better definition is obtained.

It is difficult to achieve satisfactory results in patients with a BMI (body mass index) of more than 30. It will be appropriate for these patients to consider surgery after weight loss.
