Otoplasty Candidate

The most suitable period for scoop ear surgery is 5-6 years. In this period, in which ear development is completed by 80-90%, an intervention will not prevent ear development. Also, at this age, the ear cartilage with a very soft consistency is shaped more easily than the hard adult cartilage. The psychological development of the child is not spoiled by the initiative to be done in preschool period.

  • If you think your ears are leaning forward noticeably from the front view,

  • If there is an increase in opening to the front and flattening of the ear folds,

  • If there is a clear difference in the opening of your two ears, you can be a candidate for surgery.

If this situation is noticed in newborns, improvement can be achieved without the need for surgery with splinting and patch techniques that will start before 6 months.
