Before Otopasty

Local anesthesia is the first option even in pediatric patients. Sedation or general anesthesia may also be preferred.

The elasticity of the cartilage and the severity of the deformity are the most important factors in determining the surgical technique to be applied.

Non-incisional minimal invasive techniques are the first choice in patients with mild protrusion and elastic ear cartilage.

 

On the other hand, if a a 3-4 cm skin cut is to be made, that will be behind the ear and hidden in the fold- to be hidden heals perfectly. Incisional or non-incisional operations can be performed under local or general anesthesia.More complicated (cartilage resecting, cartilage scoring, anterior approach, Z-plasty, etc.) techniques are needed in severly deformed cases.
